A Japanese Satsuma porcelain censer with three legs and twin gilt handles shaped like mythical beasts. The body is decorated with colorful, detailed enamel portraits of samurai warriors and court figures, set against a finely crackled cream glaze. Gilded floral bands encircle the upper rim. It measures approximately 8 1/2 in. (H) X 9 in. (D).
